Privacy Policy

Overview

Closeté is a digital closet and outfit app for Android. Your closet lives on your phone. The app has no ads and no sign-up. A few optional features use our server, as described below. We do not sell your data.

What stays on your phone

• The photos you take or pick, the cut-out pieces, and their details.
• Saved looks, favourites, ratings and what the app learns about your taste.
• AI previews you have created or saved.

This data is kept in the app's private storage and is not included in Android cloud backups. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

What is sent to our server

• Filling in details. When the app describes a new piece, it sends the cut-out piece (never your original photo) to our server. The server asks OpenAI to suggest the category, colours and other details, and returns them to the app.
• Online ranking (optional, can be turned off in Settings). Garment details such as category and colour are sent to rank outfit suggestions. Photos are not sent.
• Visualize. When you ask for a preview, the selected cut-out pieces and their details are sent to our server, which uses OpenAI to create the image. The finished preview is stored on our server so you can reopen it, and is only available to your installation. No photo of you, your face or your body is used.
• Installation account. To count free and Premium previews, the app creates an anonymous account for this installation. It is linked to a one-way hash of the app's Android ID, not to your name or email.

Our server keeps request records needed to run, secure and limit the service, such as counts, timings and error states.

Purchases

Premium is bought through Google Play. We never see your payment details. Our server checks the purchase with Google Play and Google Play Integrity to confirm your subscription.

Third parties

• Google Play services for background removal on your phone, in-app reviews, billing and integrity checks.
• OpenAI to suggest garment details and create Visualize previews, under its API data terms.
• PostHog for optional usage analytics hosted in the European Union, only if you allow it.

The app has no advertising SDKs.

Optional usage analytics

Analytics is off until you choose to allow it. It helps us understand whether people can add clothes, save outfits, use previews and activate Premium. We send basic actions, broad outcome and timing groups, app and operating-system versions, session information and a random analytics ID. This ID is separate from your installation account and purchases. We do not send photos, garment details, names, notes, search text, payment details or purchase tokens. We do not record your screen or use advertising IDs.

Analytics is sent over HTTPS to PostHog in the EU. Like any network service, PostHog receives the connection's IP address; we disable IP-based geolocation enrichment. Events may be queued privately on your phone while offline. You can turn analytics off in Settings to stop collection, clear unsent events and reset the local analytics ID. This does not delete events already received. Event history follows PostHog's retention policy; the free plan currently provides one year of retention. Your choices

• You can turn off online ranking and the app's learning in Settings, and reset what it learned.
• You can allow or turn off usage analytics in Settings. Your closet works either way.
• You can delete pieces and saved looks at any time, or uninstall the app to delete all local data.
• To delete server data linked to your installation, follow these steps.

Security

Traffic to our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Data on your phone is also protected by your device lock and Android's app storage protections.

Children

Closeté is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date.
